This catalogue, relating to an exhibition at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, included numerous large-format illustrations and texts exclusively based on dialogue: conversations between Ulrich Lock, Denys Zacharopoulos and the artists.

The exhibition relates the individual work of three contemporary painters who explore the modernist concept of the autonomy of painting painting that offers perceptions/experiences that can only be realized with and through it: without translation, metaphor or iconography. Autonomy, however, in these works, does not refer to the exclusion of what is outside the painting.

On the contrary, painting wants to be something real among the real, and makes visible with a certain hue what is external to it, being tinted by what is not.
